lucky pollock is a multifaceted musician, working as a composer, performer and producer in Aotearoa New Zealand. their work ranges from notated music to experimental improvisation and electronic and acoustic popular music genres.

lucky’s most recent notated compositions have incorporated thematic material based on patterns from astrology. their most recent piece was for string orchestra and was played by the NZSO as part of the 2024 CANZ composers’ workshop, and is due to be performed in Romania at the ISCM World New Music Days Festival in 2026.

as a producer they released their debut album under the moniker of their synth-punk alter ego beet-wix in 2024, and are releasing their first improvised ambient album as lucky pollock in 2026. currently they are undertaking a music production mentorship with Bevan Smith, thanks to funding from Creative NZ.

in lucky’s improvised performances they draw on their skills as a classically trained pianist, skilled vocalist, flautist and guitarist. they enjoy creating music in conversation with the world around them through collecting field recordings and recording improvisations on-site in the outdoors.
